Energy efficient aluminium windows make your home more comfortable, dramatically reduce your energy costs and help to create a brighter, cleaner and healthier environment.
The installation of an energy-efficient window is as important as its manufacture and design. A poorly installed window can be hugely compromised in its effectiveness, perhaps increasing heat loss and allowing in drafts. The positioning of the window in relation to the insulation, and how far back within the wall it is set, are both important factors. Additionally the aluminium window installation can make a big difference to the overall energy efficiency of any window. It is almost as important to detail the installation correctly as it is to choose the right window for your project in the first place.

Aluminium framed windows and doors are durable and require little maintenance, and are ideal either for contemporary projects or to suit traditional, period properties. However, the U value of the window is what makes the difference between an ‘A’ rated energy efficient window and a ‘D’ rated window.
An A rated aluminium window can have all the accreditation possible but it is going to be installed into an opening needing 5-10mm around the frame to expand. Studies have shown that not insulating this gap reduces an A rated energy efficient window to the equivalent of a D rated window when the installation is complete.
Silicones are very poor insulators and spray foam is not always air-tight.
Consequently, the heat trying to escape hits the very efficient window and just gets sucked towards the entire perimeter of the unprotected frame and escapes.
With trained fitters and using highly insulating Hilti foam Hedgehog Aluminium are able to provide excellent energy efficient windows and doors with sound reduction benefits, reduced thermal conductivity, restricting air infiltration and a water-resistant seal. Hilti foam is a flexible material allowing movements between building components specifically designed for sealing the perimeter joint between windows and doors.
