Battersea Development

Hedgehog Aluminium Systems were a part of the Battersea Development, designed by Gehry Partners in collaboration with Foster + Partners. Sieger slim casement windows were installed in the apartments.

Hedgehog Aluminium Systems were involved in the Battersea Development in South West London. The apartments in the third phase of the redevelopment were designed by Gehry Partners in collaboration with Foster + Partners.

There were multiple phases included in the Battersea development. The third phase was one of the most important elements of the regeneration including new homes and a new high street. This phase included more than 1,300 homes, a 160+ room hotel, retail spaces, restaurants and leisure facilities.

Hedgehog Aluminium Systems were very pleased to be involved with this redevelopment project, installing their very own Sieger slim casement windows. The luxury £1.5m apartments were built in the Battersea power station redevelopment in a perfect location, next to the south bank of the Thames.

Hedgehog installed windows onto ‘The Pavilion’, a show home that allows visitors to view the unique internal living spaces, created by Gehry Partners, which are cleverly crafted with curved façades. The glass façades installed onto the apartments help to maximise light and provide almost panoramic views in all directions due to their projected form.

The windows installed by Hedgehog Aluminium are all Sieger slim casement windows. These windows all have thermally broken aluminium framing, this means that the apartments will have an impressive amount of thermal insulation. The aluminium framing on ‘The Pavilion’ has been powder coated white, contrasting with the copper exterior and black framed windows and doors on the ground floor.

Using these slim framed casement windows maximises the natural light intake into the apartments as well as allowing no obstruction to the incredible views in London. Having these aluminium framed windows placed on the apartment blocks is perfect as aluminium is very durable and easy to maintain, creating an easy to care for, a long lasting window for any home.
