Smart Stop for Sliding Patio Doors

With sliding patio doors every increasing in size and weight capability homeowners are becoming more and more aware of the safety aspects of such large, free sliding doors.

With  sliding patio doors every increasing in size and weight capability homeowners are becoming more and more aware of the safety aspects of such large, free sliding doors.

The Shuco Sliding Patio Door from Hedgehog Aluminium can be designed in large sliding doors of 9m2 with a maximum width of 3m and a maximum weight of 3m. These large sliding glass doors will be holding double glazed panels of up to 400kg each!

If sliding doors of this size are closed very quickly the weight of these sliding doors slamming into the outer frame could damage the framing, building structure, or cause injury to fingers caught in the way.

The new ‘Smart Stop’ mechanism is a soft braking option now available for the Shuco ASS 70 Hi Sliding Door .

The friction piston, integrated into the head frame of the patio doors, catches the sliding doors when sliding closed, drawing the sliding door to a gentle stop before hitting the outer frame.

Once stopped you can then easily, fully close the sliding patio door safely.

This additional option for the sliding doors is fully integrated into the head frame of the sliding patio doors, meaning there's no increase in frame sizes or any change to the slim and modern framing design.
